Not a genius premise. A repeatable engine with three idiots we might love.

Three inmates at a facility that isn't on any map skip their nightly pills — and start remembering the people the rest of the ward forgot.

The meds don't sedate you. They edit you. Every night at last call, someone is subtracted from the building, and everyone who swallowed their cup agrees that person was never there.

Ranger's bunkmate Mara vanished last Tuesday. Her book is still warm. If the trio takes tonight's dose, they will forget her too. The cart is coming.

The formula

Big Mystery + Stupid Prison Problem + Character Conflict + Surreal Interruption. Every episode runs the same four pistons. The mystery serializes. The stupid problem is the A-plot. Nobody stays the straight man.

The facility is editing people. The murals are a ledger. Dr. Hollis is only a voice.

Stupid Prison Problem
The cart is late. The taffy plan. A headcount that already includes you.

Character Conflict
Devon wants data. Twitch wants to not become a poster. Ranger wants Mara to have been real in the morning.

Surreal Interruption
A vending machine says a government name. A mural waves. The PA calls people who don't exist.

Tone rules

Nobody is the straight man all the time. The job rotates, sometimes mid-line.
The joke cannot cancel the grief. It sits on top of it and refuses to get off.
Believe Twitch once per episode. Not twice.
Nodin is not comic relief and not a mascot. He notices first because he listens.
Nurse Vale never explains the smile.
If a plan sounds smart, it fails. If Chew is chewing, it might work.
The facility is funny because it is bureaucratic, not because suffering is the punchline.

Skipped first. For science.

Never the only person who is right.

Twitch

Sees the glitch. Also the vending machine.

Believe him once per episode. Not twice.

Ranger

The one with something to lose.

Comedy does not cancel the grief. It sits on it.

Nurse Vale

Night meds. Smile too wide.

Never explain the smile.

Nodin

Hears when a room loses a person.

Dignity first. Wit second. Never a mascot.

Chew

Contraband as a worldview.

The dumb plan is the working plan.

Lil Branch

Runs the black market from a plastic chair.

Never cute. Never powerless.

John Gilt

Fashion internment, in his mind.

Vanity is a detection system.

What we changed

The idea was never going to sell the show. The names, the stake, and the hour had to.

Ojibwe as a quirky nickname	Nodin	An actual Anishinaabe character with a name, not a nation used as a gag.
Twitch as a platform wink	Twitch (the tic)	He is named for the nervous system, not a livestream. Keep it in-world.

EP 01

Last Call for Meds

They skip the cup. The line shuffles. A man named maybe-Gary becomes a mural. Ranger decides Mara still counts.

EP 02

Group Is Mandatory

They have to attend group without saying Mara. Twitch says Mara. The counselor is reading from a script that includes their bunk conversations.

EP 03

The Count

Headcount is short by one. The clipboard says complete. Devon volunteers to be the missing number. His face is already on a poster.

EP 04

Visitor Day

A man claims to be Twitch's brother. Twitch does not have a brother. At 3pm the visitor evaporates and leaves a cup. The parking lot has no cars and one idling van.

EP 05

Palmed

The unswallowed pills start talking. Chew tries to sell them. Vale starts smiling at empty chairs.

EP 06

Make a Selection

The vending machine knows Devon's middle name. Lil Branch wants a cut of whatever the machine is. Nodin says the building is hungry in a new direction.
